Education: Shaya holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Grand View University with a minor in Psychology. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Buena Vista University and is working toward licensure as a mental health counselor.

Professional Experience/Accomplishments: Over 6 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in educational, community- based, and family support settings. Coordinated before- and after-school programming serving students across multiple elementary schools, supporting social-emotional development and behavioral success. Developed and maintained positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners to promote student well-being. Provided trauma-informed support to children experiencing behavioral, emotional, and family-related challenges. Delivered family-centered services and parenting support to families involved with child welfare and community-based services. Assisted children in developing emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, and coping skills. Managed crisis situations and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support student and family needs. Current graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with specialized training in trauma, child and adolescent development, behavioral interventions, and culturally responsive care.

Hobbies/Interests: Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, attending her children’s activities, volunteering in her community, and exploring new ways to support children’s social-emotional development.
