Family Connections, Inc. was established in 2001 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. and began with a contract with the State of Iowa to provide Rehabilitative Treatment and Support Services (RTSS) to Iowa’s children and families in need. In addition, also obtained a contract with Magellan and Iowa Medicaid to provide services to families under the Iowa Plan.

From 2001-2006...

From 2001-2006 provided services to Iowa’s children and families primarily through the RTSS system.

In 2006...

In 2006, the child welfare system was redesigned, Family Connections, Inc. readily adjusted to these changes to insure continued care for Iowa’s children and families in need.
From 2006,-2011 Family Connections, Inc. served Iowa’s families through Remedial, Medicaid, private pay, private insurance, and court ordered services.

In 2010...

In 2010, We expanded services to include groups, classes, and seminars.

In 2011...

In 2011,  Family Connections, Inc. began providing Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) that replaced Remedial Services.  Family Connections, Inc. began providing free anger management classes (How to Tame Your Dragon and Boiling Point) for children and their parents. These new services are in addition to the Medicaid, private insurance, private pay and court ordered services that Family Connections, Inc. has continued to provide to Iowa’s families.

In 2012...

In 2012, Family Connections, Inc. entered into a partnership with Council Bluffs Community Schools to help connect students and families in need with community resources with the Community Resource Navigator position.

In 2015...

In 2015, Family Connections, Inc., in a partnership with Council Bluffs Community Schools, began providing in school Behavioral Health Therapy. The therapy is provided to assist children in need of counseling after a referral is made by the school for school related issues.  These services are provided to Iowa Medicaid eligible children in Council Bluffs Community Schools, as well as, private insurance clients.

In 2018...

In 2018, Family Connections, Inc. opened our new office in Glenwood, Iowa to help serve individuals, families, couples, teens, and children in Glenwood and surrounding areas.

In 2019...

In 2019, Family Connections, Inc. opened our newest office in Red Oak, Iowa to help serve individuals, families, couples, teens, and children in the Red Oak and surrounding areas. Family Connections, Inc. was also named “Best Counseling Clinic-Reader Referred” by Best of Omaha.

In 2020...

In 2020, Due to the ongoing pandemic, Family Connections, Inc. adapted by providing ongoing/uninterrupted service delivery by utilizing telehealth for those who prefer to remain contact free.  Family Connections, Inc. also expanded into the Woodbine, Logan, Missouri Valley, and Dunlap areas providing services for individuals and families in need.

In 2021...

In 2021, Family Connections, Inc. has added an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to help the agency provide the complete continuum of care that may include medication and medication management. We also added an additional location in Glenwood, as well as, new offices in Woodbine, Iowa and Plattsmouth, NE.

In 2022...

In 2022, Family Connections, Inc. expanded to Avoca, Iowa with our newest office location to serve the Avoca and surrounding communities.

In 2023...

In 2023, Family Connections, Inc. expanded to Dunlap and Sidney, opening new offices in both areas in Iowa.
